If y’all haven’t noticed, 2020 has been a slow year for figure collecting, since I’ve had to put more money into health insurance. To compensate, I’ve written some popular posts on starting a NSFW collection. My Instagram bestie @ladyslove.red also contributed a review to the blog. Even without new figures, PVC Waifus can go on! In that spirit, I went out to take pics by the recently discovered creek near my apartment. The only figure I own suitable to the task was the classic Echidna.

I don’t remember much about the first Queens Blade anime, but Echidna is a character seared in my memory. Her Fandom Wiki page says she joined the Queens Blade tournament for no apparent reason (is there ever a reason for a fighting tournament?), and lives to harass women and win battles. She’s not any deeper than that, which is good because I don’t have time to unpack Echidna’s sadism as problematic. If you think I have no place making social commentary on fictional characters: (1) you’re probably right, considering I ogle tiny women, but (2) this is my blog, so I do what I want.

I bought Echidna off a very nice eBay seller because I remember her snake thong–yes, snake thong. In the show, the snake occasionally leaves her crotch, which leaves her pantless. She also shares a name with the mother of Medusa, and carries a shield with what looks like a gorgon’s head on it. If you like women who shed their skin and can eat animals whole, Echidna’s the one for you.

My only critiques here lie with the build quality, which isn’t worth being upset about considering MFC lists Echidna at 5000 yen upon release in 2007. She’s a glorified prize figure! Sure, there are lateral seam lines from her hips to her torso. Her crotch is smoothed over without sign of labia or anus. She can’t really hold her sword. One of the pegs in her base snapped off in her foot, so displaying her is a hassle. But Echidna’s a beauty, especially since I opted for the black outfit and tanned skin color scheme.

After this COVID-19 pandemic is through, I hope to have new figures for your viewing pleasure. Until then, turn your objectifying gaze towards Echidna. Pray her shield doesn’t turn you rock hard.
